After a successful pilot project, Europe’s largest electronics retailer Media-Markt will begin installing bitcoin ATMs in twelve of its branches across Austria.
As a result, customers will be able to buy bitcoins from Kurant, which operates 200 bitcoin ATMs in Austria, Spain, Greece and Germany.
Media-Markt began testing the feature back in 2019 at one of its branches in Vienna. Now, due to high demand, the organization has launched the project.
We can say that this initiative has become a trend among large retailers, as last year the American retail giant Walmart partnered with Coinme to install 200 bitcoin ATMs in the United States.
According to the CoinATMRadar service, there are more than 36,806 ATMs worldwide. The vast majority of them are located in the United States, with Europe accounting for only a small portion of bitcoin ATMs.
