Vitalik Buterin recently posted a tweet saying “guys, please don’t beg for money in social networks or chat messages.”
The Ethereum co-founder said he feels uncomfortable when he can’t meet people’s financial needs. And while most financial requests may have unthinkable reasons, he finds it hard to check into every story:
… having a pattern of responses to such requests would lead to a complete breakdown of my inbox.
Buterin is known for his philanthropic behavior, notably donating more than $1.2 billion in cryptocurrency last year to the Indian Foundation to Fight COVID-19 and other charities.
Buterin’s donations mostly included dog-themed cryptocurrencies, including Shiba Inu (SHIB), Dogelon (ELON) and Akita Inu (AKITA). In short, what wasn’t sorry.
These tokens went to him as a gift as cryptoproject developers used Buterin’s name to promote the industry. This month, Buterin urged creators of dog-themed cryptocurrencies to donate directly rather than send tokens to his wallet.
